Greg Coomer, Valve’s design engineer, is confident that all indications are that the company can reach February 2022. Steam Deck To offer.
The global shortage of electrical components has become a major problem for all manufacturers in recent months, and game consoles are in the same range. As you know, there is a very high demand in the market for the purchase of new generation consoles, and this has led to many problems in this area. Considering all this, it can be said that the situation for the production and release of a new console such as Steam Deck will probably be worse.
The release date of Steam Deck has already been postponed once and its initial release date has been changed from December 2021 to February 2022. However, the question that arises is whether we should prepare for another delay. Fortunately, this does not seem to be the case and there is no further delay.
In an interview with PC Gamer, Greg Kummer, Volvo’s chief design engineer, said he was optimistic about the release of the Steam deck in February, and that if things went according to plan, No serious problem, although it will be able to release the console exactly on the announced date. He said in this regard:
We feel we are on the right track. Of course, we still have concerns about the transition from this year to next, but fortunately, all indications are that we can officially launch the Steam Deck in February next year.
Kummer continued that although it started sending a large volume of Steam deck to the market from the very first day, but due to the nature of the product, which is sold only through the Steam platform and unlike many other products in retail Stores will not be available, the distribution process will probably be a bit more ambiguous and complicated than other consoles. He said:
This is a well-planned release and at a very high level. Thousands of people receive their consoles as soon as we can send them. Even talking about thousands of copies is very little compared to the volumes we send to the market in the first few months.
However, according to Kummer, Volvo expects to have produced and shipped millions by the end of the first anniversary of the Steam Deck. He further emphasized:
We plan to have a big release on the first day of this console release. In fact, Volvo plans to launch a console with a large offering and continue to do so on a daily basis. Our goal is not, like many companies, to start the first day of supply very large and glorious, and then face severe shortages.
If you look at the timeline until 2022 and until 2023, you will see that we expect to see more and more consoles on the market all this time, and as far as I know, if everything goes according to plan. By the end of 2023, millions of people will be using Steam Deck.
In addition, Volvo CEO Gabe Newell has previously said that the company hopes to sell millions of Steam Deck devices. So, it’s very clear that they have big plans and a lot of expectations from Steam Deck. However, do not expect this device to receive any exclusive games.
